IMO during summer issued the updated 2023 Guidelines for the control and management of ships’ biofouling to minimize the transfer of invasive aquatic species (Biofouling Guidelines), as per MEPC 378(80).

New IMO requirements for Mooring
The MSC.1 Circ. 1620 Guidelines for inspection and maintenance of mooring equipment including lines, and MSc.1 Circ. 1175/Rev.1, have been issued/renewed in order to support the new IMO requirements.
EU MRV Regulation amended to support EU-ETS requirements
The Regulation 2023/957 was amended to provide for the inclusion of maritime transport activities in the EU-ETS, and, subsequently, Regulation (EU) No 2015/757 was also amended on late May 2023 in order to support the EU-ETS requirements.
PSC Concentrated Inspection Campaign on Fire Safety
Paris and Tokyo MoUs have jointly announced a new Concentrated Inspections Campaign (CIC) that will take place from September 1st to November 30rd, 2023 with a focus on Fire Safety implementation on board ships.
